Every night when the sun goes down, we read a book before bed. I tuck in the preschooler, and lay down the 14 month old and sit my chair. The kids and I really enjoy it. Because of the holiday coming up, we have been reading the best halloween books for preschoolers. Spooky, but not too spooky.
Our favorite Halloween Books for Preschoolers
- Room on the Broom
- Clifford’s Halloween
- Pumpkins and Apples
- Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn.
- Two Little Witches
- Pumpkin Jack
- The Roll-away Pumpkin
- I Hate to Wait
- Halloween ABC
- How to Catch a Monster
- Good Night Little Monster
- Today I’m a Monster
- Peppa’s Halloween Party
- Franklin’s Halloween
- Author’s Halloween
The kids really enjoy all of these books! I love them because they encourage a lot of learning from the little ones. Like, “Two Little Witches”, its a really fun math book. My 4 year old loves helping me count them and gets so excited. These books teach lessons, like counting, abc’s, patience, and etc.
“Today, I’m A Monster” is a book that shows kids that it’s okay to have a bad day sometimes. Just because you are a “Monster” one day doesn’t mean you are always a “Monster.”
“I Have to Wait” is another favorite! It is about a Monster who has been great all year long (kind of like Christmas where you have to be good all year”, and waits until Halloween to be scary and loud. He does great until he gets tested when he needs to wait in line for his costume.
“Pumpkins and Apples” is a great one for small children by teaching them all about going to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch. It is also great as children learn to read because the words are simple.
“Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn” teaches children all about the changes between summer and autumn.
“Pumpkin Jack” is my favorite learning book for Halloween. This book shows the changes a pumpkin goes through when decomposing. Super interesting and cute story!
